Fall Baking Digest Review

Published: Aug 18, 2020 by Jessica Morone · This post may contain affiliate links ·

Even with every recipe imaginable being online, I still love seeing printed recipes. Things like cookbooks and magazines make me really happy. Theres just nothing like being able to flip through the pages for inspiration.I have a whole wall of cookbooks, subscribe to several magazines, and frequently pick up other magazines at the grocery store. When I received an email asking if I would like a free copy of the Fall Baking Digest I got really excited.

Fall is my absolute favorite season, and one of the best things about Fall is the flavors. Even though it is still August, I am ready to start baking up some fall items.

Let me tell you, the Fall Baking Digest doesn't disappoint. Initially I thought maybe I would would make a recipe or two, but as I flipped through the pages I realized I wanted to make every single recipe. And there are over 50 recipes in it! I didnt get a chance to do that, but I did manage to make three of the recipes in the last two days, and plan to eventually make all of them.

Here are some of my favorites from the magazine:

Apple Cheese Skillet Bread

This recipe was so easy to make. You just have to mix up the ingredients and then pour it into a skillet to bake in the oven. It also uses apples, which are obviously one of the quintessential fall flavors. This bread was also really delicious, it uses sparkling cider for the apple flavor and it really shines through. Serve this with butter to make it even more delicious.

Maple Bacon Pancakes

I didn't get to take photos of these for one very important reason: they were too good so they got eaten right away. Who doesn't like maple and bacon? Together they are an amazing combination. This recipe takes pancake mix and brightens it up by adding crispy cooked bacon and maple syrup into the batter, which makes the pancakes themselves just really delightful. These are super easy, and are going to become one of my weekend brunch staples.

Chocolate Orange Shortbread Cookies

I used to get chocolate oranges for Christmas, so these remind me more of a winter dessert. But it doesn't matter, because chocolate with oranges is one of my favorite combinations. And these cookies just seem so fancy and impressive that I absolutely adore them. They are also very simple to make, which is always a plus.

The Verdict

The recipes in this magazine that I tried were really great. I loved how many different types of recipes were included. I definitely plan to make more of them because they all just look so delicious. There is also an article at the end of the digest where Paul Hollywood, star of The Great British Bake Off, gives you his top 20 baking tips. As one of the biggest fans of The Great British Bake Off, I absolutely loved reading his baking tips. You can get this magazine on newsstands in the US and Canada now, or order it at https://onnewsstandsnow.com/products/fall-baking-digest.
