½ cup unsalted butter, melted

? cup granulated sugar

? cup light brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1½ teaspoons espresso powder

? cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon baking powder

½ cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and whisk vigorously until glossy and slightly thickened.
  4. Whisk in the vanilla extract and espresso powder.
  5. Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder and stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  8. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
  9. Bake for 22 to 27 minutes, or until the edges are set and the top is set, but still jiggles. 
  10. Cool completely before slicing and serving.
